2024 INFINITI QX60 vs 2024 Acura MDX
The market for luxury SUVs is highly competitive, which makes it all the more important for buyers to carefully compare their options. Two exciting vehicles in this class are the 2024 INFINITI QX60 and the Acura MDX. They combine opulent interior features with excellent performance to create crossovers that are both fun to drive and relax in.
Here at INFINITI of Hoffman Estates, we’ve taken a closer look at these two rivals to help you decide which one is best for your needs. Feel free to contact us in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, to ask any questions about the new QX60 for sale.
Interior and Comfort Features
Both the INFINITI QX60 and Acura MDX can accommodate up to seven passengers across three rows of seats. The cabins are relatively similar in terms of size, with just over 16 cubic feet of storage space behind the MDX’s third row and 14.5 cubic feet at the rear of the QX60.
The third and second rows can be folded down in both vehicles to create storage space for bulkier items. The MDX gets over 39 cubic feet of space with the third row down, while the storage area grows to more than 41 cubic feet in the QX60. With the two rear rows down, you get over 75 cubic feet of space in the QX60 and slightly less in the MDX with 71 cubic feet.
Both vehicles boast an upscale cabin. The QX60 features genuine leather upholstery, heated and power-adjustable front seats, and a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel. The MDX is equipped with synthetic leather seats and power adjustments for the driver and passenger seats. However, you need to pay extra to get a heated steering wheel.
As you move up through the trims, you get some additional comfort features. For instance, the range-topping Autograph trim equips the QX60 with premium leather upholstery and captain’s chairs in the second row. At the top of the MDX’s trim ladder, the Advance Package adds massaging front seats.
Technology and Safety Features
The infotainment systems offer very similar features in both vehicles. The INFINITI QX60 and Acura MDX have 12.3-inch infotainment screens, nine-speaker stereos, and additional features such as wireless device charging and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are offered in both vehicles to ensure smartphone compatibility with your infotainment system. You can upgrade to a 16-speaker or 25-speaker sound system in the MDX, and a 17-speaker stereo and a navigation system in the QX60.
It’s a similar story with the long list of driver-assistance features available in both vehicles. These include forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, forward automatic emergency braking, and lane departure warning. The QX60 has rear parking sensors, which make it a lot easier to navigate your three-row SUV into a tight parking spot. The MDX boasts adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, and road departure mitigation. Optional upgrades in the QX60 include adaptive cruise control and a surround-view parking camera.
Performance and Engine Specifications
In the INFINITI QX60, the engine throughout the trim lineup is a 3.5-liter V-6 unit that puts out 295 horsepower. It’s available with standard front-wheel drive (FWD) or optional all-wheel drive (AWD). The FWD QX60 achieves 26 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg on city roads, which are impressive numbers for the luxury midsize SUV class. If you opt for AWD, the gas mileage numbers drop by 1 mpg. This SUV is capable of towing up to 6,000 pounds, which is more than enough to manage a midsize camper or large trailer.
The base engine in the Acura MDX is a 290-horsepower V-6 that can be equipped with FWD or AWD. If you opt for the MDX Type S, you get a turbocharged V-6 engine with 355 horsepower under the hood. Fuel economy numbers are 26 mpg on the highway and 19 mpg on city roads with FWD, and 25 mpg and 19 mpg with AWD, respectively. These numbers fall slightly short of what you can achieve in the QX60. The MDX’s towing capacity is also slightly below that of the QX60 at 5,000 pounds.
The option to add AWD in either vehicle is a good choice if you want to be prepared for all weather conditions. It can also help you improve your vehicle’s performance when towing heavier loads.
Pricing
There are four trims on offer in the INFINITI QX60 lineup: Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and Autograph. The Pure trim has a starting MSRP of just under $49,000. In addition to the standard features, it comes equipped with a panoramic moonroof and tri-zone automatic climate control. The Luxe trim comes in at just over $55,000 and adds a 12.3-inch touch screen, ventilated front seats, and a navigation system. The Sensory trim costs around $59,000, and gets massaging front seats and heated rear seats.
The range-topping Autograph trim comes in at just over $63,000. It gains upgraded leather seats, a heads-up display, and a rearview mirror.
The base Acura MDX starts at $49,850. Stepping up to the MDX with the Technology Package costs $54,550, and it includes ambient interior lighting, genuine leather seats, and a 12-speaker stereo. The MDX with the A-Spec Package starts at just over $60,000. You gain ventilated front seats, a 16-speaker stereo, and an intercom. The MDX with the Advance Package costs $63,000 and features heated second-row seats and a heated steering wheel.
The MDX Type S gets the bigger engine and starts from $68,150. You can upgrade to the Type S with Advance Package to get massaging front seats and the most impressive available stereo system.
